When I Grow Up, I Want to Be… April 15, 2009
Most kids are asked what they would want to be when they grow up. This age old question is even asked in baby beauty contests and the likes.
When I was small and was asked that question, I remember answering them that I would want to be a doctor or a lawyer. When I was in middle school, my reply changed. I told them that I want to be a teacher instead.
Now that I am older, I still have no idea as to what I would want to do professionally. My ideal occupation hasn’t materialized yet and right now, I don’t want to stick to one particular thing. I don’t know if it’s because I lack the drive or the determination but it’s just I don’t want to be stuck and regret about it.
When you’re a kid, you often see the world in rose colored glasses and thinking that everything you want would come true. But as an adult, ambition is nothing without hard work and passion. It is not about what you want to become, it is about how hard to want it to come true. Wishing is easy. Dreaming is a lot easier. But without action, it will remain as it is… a wish and a dream.
